Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), a provider of gaming technology and sports media, recently announced the expansion of its business relationship with News Corp UK & Ireland in order to gain access to the Irish market.
Adding Ireland to the mix
The cloud-based technology and media provider will enter and establish a presence in Ireland as a result of the new agreement between GiG and News Corp UK & Ireland, providing casino and sports betting content as well as special offers.
Following the announcement, readers can now find all the information they require in one convenient location on the Irish Sun's website, which has been designated as a hub for all betting-related content.
In an effort to capitalize on already-existing synergies between the partners, GiG and the parent of well-known UK brands talkSPORT and The Sun first partnered in December of last year to deliver sports betting and casino content, as well as special offers, to customers in the UK.
In order to make the partnership possible, News Corp consented to place the betting and gaming content in designated sections on both the talkSPORT and The Sun websites. This would make the offers visible and accessible to anyone who might be interested.
The partnership made its debut with content related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and now, two months later, it has already demonstrated its ability to generate material revenues for GiG Media, as the division posted an all-time high in fourth-quarter revenue of €17.8 million ($18.9 million), an increase of 40% over the previous year. This has further encouraged its expansion to include customers in Ireland.
Aiming for US Entry
The US market, which the partners hope to enter by the end of the first fiscal quarter of 2023, is one that GiG and News Corp UK & Ireland are particularly interested in expanding their partnership and entering.
Elsewhere in Europe, GiG announced last month a deal with an unnamed established land-based and digital casino operator in Switzerland to provide it with its player account management (PAM) solution for a period of five years, enter the lucrative Swiss market and capitalize on the rapid growth of the iGaming vertical in the country.
Outside of Europe, GiG signed an agreement with Ontario-based operator Casino Time earlier in the month to power its operations by providing platform, sportsbook and omnichannel solutions.
Casino Time will launch in the second quarter of 2023, making it the fifth operator to team up with GiG since the tech provider received approval from the Alcohol and Gambling Commission of Ontario in July 2022.
